Men's Fairbanks Heavyweight, Waterproof, Sherpa-Fleece-Lined Hunting Jacket - Tarnen
Fairbanks Heavyweight Waterproof Hunting Jacket
Recommended temperature range of 0F to 30F, with proper layering.
A classic, winter hunting jacket.
The Fairbanks jacket in Tarnen is our original, 100% windproof and waterproof heavyweight hunting jacket. Named after Fairbanks, AK, we wanted this jacket to be just as tough as its name implies while having the right features you need in a puffy, insulated jacket.
Durable yet soft - A heavily brushed tricot exterior is made to be tough on burrs and brush, while the plush sherpa fleece interior is soft to the skin and keeps in the warmth.
100% Waterproof - With interior taped seams on the windproof/waterproof film, the Fairbanks blocks cold, wet winds from penetrating and ruining your hunt.
Lock in the heat - Polyfill insulation traps warm air and circulates it throughout the jacket - warming you through your chest, back, and arms.
The Fairbanks jacket features 7 pockets - one zippered chest pocket, two chest hand warmer pockets, two lower zippered hand pockets, and two interior stash pockets.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Fairbanks just the Matterhorn without Heat Boost?
- The Fairbanks and Matterhorn are different in construction, with the Matterhorn having significantly reduced bulk. The Matterhorn, with its Heat Boost, is much thinner in the chest and sleeves compared to the Fairbanks - great attributes for bowhunting. The Fairbanks really shines in late season firearm or crossbow hunts. - Does the Fairbanks work for bowhunting?
- Compared to the fit of our other heavyweight jackets, the Fairbanks was designed as a classic, late season jacket perfect for gun season. If bowhunting, we recommend you use an arm guard on your bow arm to eliminate the string from touching your sleeve. - Do I need to order a size bigger to have room for extra layers?
- No, we design all of our clothing to “size up” with you for layering going from lightweight to heavyweight garments. For example, if you wear an XL jacket for early season, you will only need an XL for late season, winter weather garments. - How much do I need to layer underneath the Fairbanks to get to 0F?
- Our temperature ratings follow our System Builder - base layers, insulation layers, mid layers, and lastly the outer layer. Each hunter’s cold tolerance is different, but a safe bet is to follow the system for full temperature rating coverage.
